GABA: How it Impacts HGH Levels and its Main Benefits

Growth hormone supplements feature an array of natural ingredients. There could be variations but several components appear in nearly all of the formula. GABA is one of those ingredients.

The relationship between GABA and HGH increase has been well-established, which is why so many supplement manufacturers rely on this substance.

What Is GABA?

Gamma-aminobutyric acid, commonly known as GABA, is a chemical that’s naturally produced by the human brain. In fact, it is the single most powerful depressive neuroamine inhibitor. This effect has made GABA essential for the treatment of various medical problems.

The synthesized version of the chemical can be taken orally to get an array of health benefits. Most commonly, it has mood enhancing qualities that make it suitable for the treatment of anxiety and depression.

GABA was originally discovered in the 1950s. Ever since those early days, researchers have established the importance of the neurotransmitter. They have found out that a number of medical conditions, including Parkinson and epilepsy are influenced by GABA.

GABA And HGH

Research suggests that GABA increases growth hormone levels, as well as two of its analogues – immunoreactive growth hormone (irGH) and immunofunctional growth hormone (ifGH).

Scientists believe that the effect GABA has on dopamine levels is the one that contributes to the positive changes in HGH. It impacts the pituitary gland – the one that is responsible for growth hormone production.

Several clinical studies confirm the effectiveness of GABA intake when it comes to maximizing growth hormone production. One of the experiments was presented in the journal of Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise.

The study involved 11 resistance trained men who participated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.

In the end of the experiment, the participants that were given a GABA supplement saw a 400-percent increase in both irGH and ifGH. Researchers concluded that GABA supplementation could enhance the muscle building effects of resistance training.

A few other clinical studies produced similar results. It’s also interesting to point out that the growth hormone enhancement results of taking GABA are even more pronounced in individuals that exercise on a regular basis.

Other Benefits

Apart from the growth hormone enhancement effect, GABA is known to has a few other positive impacts. One has already been mentioned – mood enhancement that leads to easier management of depression symptoms.

GABA has proven to also be effective in individuals suffering from high blood pressure. It regulates the blood flow, making it easier for people with hypertension to have normal blood pressure.

Natural motion sickness relief is possible through GABA supplementation. Research suggests that taking a GABA-containing supplement will reduce the onset of the dizziness and nausea associated with motion sickness.

There is some evidence that GABA could be used for the treatment of issues like

  • bronchitis and other respiratory infections
  • Huntington’s disease
  • meningitis
  • cerebral palsy
  • Cushing’s disease
  • brain disorders that result from the exposure to harmful chemicals
  • premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
  • and stress

It may also be used to relieve pain

Dosage And Recommendations

The GABA dosage will depend entirely on the intended use. People that want to see an increase in their growth hormone levels will need to take a GABA supplement that contains 3,000 to 5,000 milligrams of the active ingredient.

According to medics, GABA is safe and it’s not expected to produce side effects when taken orally for a period of up to 12 weeks. There is no information about GABA interacting with any medications.

If you suffer from a chronic medical condition or if you’re currently talking drugs, talk to your doctor before getting started with a GABA supplementation program.

Researchers don’t know how GABA supplementation may affect pregnant or breast-feeding women. It would be best to postpone a GABA regimen until you give birth or stop nursing your kid.
